PENSION ROSENHÜGEL

HISTORY & HOSTS

geschichte1

Our story begins ...

... in 1971, when the road to Mutterberg was built. Before that, the Stubai Valley was largely only accessible by horse-drawn carriage and most people lived from farming - including Raimund's family, who owned a farmhouse directly below today's bus stop in Gasteig.

Even back then, guests from near and far travelled to this idyllic region to enjoy the peace and quiet and experience the mountains.

With the opening of the road to Mutterberg in 1972 and the start of construction work on the Stubai Glacier in October of the same year, the Stubai Valley became an increasingly popular destination for mountain enthusiasts and nature lovers. In 1974, Raimund, a trained bricklayer and tiler, tackled the construction of the Rosenhügel guesthouse himself - a big step for the then 33-year-old.

In November 1975, the time had finally come: Pension Rosenhügel opened its doors. The guest rooms were modernly equipped - each room with its own bathroom, shower, WC and balcony - and the first guests found their way to us.

In 1979, Raimund married Annelies from Styria, with whom he had five children: Sabine, Armin, Marlene, Bernadette and Alexandra. The family grew and life in the guesthouse was never boring.

Annelies looked after breakfast, the rooms and cooked for the guests in the evenings, while Raimund continued to work as a self-employed tiler and farmer. In the evenings, the two of them often sat together with the guests, and many long-standing friendships developed.

In 1993, Raimund and Annelies expanded the guesthouse with an extension that included additional guest rooms, a flat for the family and a large sauna.

On 15 October 2008, her son Armin took over the management of the guesthouse. Since then, he has worked with great passion and dedication as chef and cook to ensure that our guests feel completely at ease and spoils them with delicious dishes that are praised time and time again.

In 2011, the guesthouse was extensively renovated: the façade, balconies, windows and doors were renewed, and the electrical installations were also brought up to date. This was followed in 2015 by the construction of a new dining room, a modern kitchen and additional guest rooms. In 2020, a large playground was built for our younger guests.

From 2021 to 2022, both roofs were insulated and renovated, while some rooms and bathrooms were modernised to further increase the comfort for our guests.

Today, Raimund and Annelies are still an integral part of the guesthouse and actively support Armin. Pension Rosenhügel is a genuine family business, where the family atmosphere and hospitality are tangible.

Our team is also supported by long-standing employees: Paula, Philipa and Armin's sister Sabine also contribute to the charm and success of the guesthouse.
